Introducing power cable capabilities to the CWind service scope

Positioning ourselves to meet wider customer needs

As you may have noticed in the press recently, CWind’s service scope has expanded to include parent company Global Marine Systems Limited’s power cable capabilities.

CWind will continue to provide the full range of customer-focused services that it has done successfully to date, including corrosion protection, inspections and maintenance (topside and subsea), cable pull-ins and temporary power supply.  By adding power cable installation and maintenance solutions to its offering they are now able to manage and deliver entire cable packages covering the lifecycle of an offshore wind farm from the FEED stage with detailed desktop studies and route surveys, through to the installation and protection of cable.

Lee Andrews remains at the helm

Lee Andrews remains as Managing Director for CWind, the power business unit for the Global Marine Group. Lee joined CWind in November 2014 as Operations Director after 25 years with Siemens, and moved into the position of Managing Director in June 2016. Lee has a wealth of experience and knowledge within the offshore wind industry.

New skills and experience

Our current team is now bolstered with experience proposal and subsea engineers, as well as project managers from parent company Global Marine Group, utilising the combined skills and experience to deliver innovative power cable installation and maintenance services.

A larger pool of assets

As a business, we will have access to a larger pool of assets within this extended offering including the C.S. Sovereign, a highly capable vessel which has installed 387 inter-array cables globally, as well as CWind’s existing fleet of 18 CTVs.  CWind will also have access to a diverse array of subsea equipment, including the Q1000 jet trenching ROV, enabling us to deliver more complex work packages.
