CWind is part of the Global Marine Group delivering the company’s power capabilities, recognised for delivering solutions topside and subsea.

With experience at over 40 offshore wind farms, and known as a reliable power cable installation and maintenance provider that conducts back-to-back repairs, CWind consistently demonstrates a commitment to innovation with a can-do attitude.

CWind holds a unique market position with a dedicated team of trained technicians combined with a fuel efficient fleet of crew transfer vessels and access to experienced cable ships and crew. The company also has its own training facility the National Wind Farm Training Centre (NWFTC).

Global Marine is part of the Global Marine Group, and is a market leader in subsea cable installation and maintenance solutions to the telecoms and oil & gas sectors.

Global Marine is recognised as a high quality, strategic partner, with a successful track record across the industry. Global Marine has developed a core base of knowledge, skills, technology, equipment and assets which provide the capabilities to plan, install, bury, store, test, find, recover and maintain subsea fibre optic cables. Global Marine is in a unique position owning the world’s largest independent marine contracting fleet, including three specialist cable installation and repair vessels, and four servicing maintenance zones.

Ian Douglas
Chief Executive Officer

Before becoming CEO in 2011, Ian worked extensively in Asia where he led the diversification and growth of our JV,SBSS and was the founding CEO of Huawei Marine Networks.

He is a Chartered Engineer having graduated in Mechanical Engineering and holds an MBA from Henley. He is one of only a handful of business people to receive The Friendship Award – the highest honour awarded by the Chinese Government for contributions to China.

Dick Fagerstal

Dick joined Global Marine Group in September 2014 after he led the acquisition from its prior owners. Dick brings a variety of experiences to Global Marine Group; he spent 12 years as a banker with DNB New York serving the telecom, energy & marine industries, and 17 years as a senior executive officer at Seacor Holdings Inc. (NYSE: “CKH”) with world-wide operations focused on energy & marine services industries.

Richard Fraser-Smith
Chief Financial Officer

Richard recently joined the Global Marine Group Leadership Team and Board of Directors as Chief Financial Officer.

He brings with him a wealth of corporate knowledge across multiple business sectors including energy, investment banking, FMCG, facilities management and consulting engineering.

Richard graduated as a Chemical Engineer and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in 1991.

Bruce Neilson-Watts

Bruce began his career with Global Marine Group at sea in 1989 becoming a Master Mariner and the youngest ever Captain in the fleet, before coming ashore in 2005. He has recently returned from China after six years working in both HMN as VP Service Delivery and SBSS as Managing Director.

Lee joined CWind in November 2014 as Operations Director after 25 years with Siemens, and moved into the position of Managing Director in June 2016.

Lee has more than 10 years of experience in offshore wind following his transfer within Siemens in 2010 to work in their then new offshore wind segment. Subsequently he used his vast engineering knowledge to support the construction of the offshore wind farms under planning and construction for subsea works as well as WTG installation, working across the UK, Denmark and Germany.

Ian is a Chartered Engineer and qualified as a Chief Engineer in the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service. He was educated at Royal Naval Colleges of Manadon and Greenwich, and at Warwick Business School.

Ian joined Global Marine Group this summer from Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) where he was responsible for the delivery of their global after-market engineering services for all business streams. Immediately prior to SMD, Ian spent 6 years as a senior manager with The Crown Estate having responsibility for the development of EON’s Rampion windfarm. He has held senior roles in the delivery of major capital projects, within the manufacturing and services sector businesses.

Ian joined Global Marine Group in 2016 and has extensive experience of developing and delivering focused health & safety solutions for global organisations. He has a proven record in leading multi-national teams to successfully implement initiatives and standards, resulting in improved safety cultures and business performance with International and National clients.

As Director of RQHSE at Global Marine Group, Ian is responsible for RQHSE management across all group fleet and shore sites, implementing safety management procedures and policies, growing the organisational safety culture and ensuring continual improvement.

Paul joined Global Marine Group in 2012 originally looking after HR for the Fleet. He assumed responsibility for both shore and fleet personnel in 2015. Previously Paul has worked in a range of senior HR roles in the defence, telecoms, manufacturing and financial sectors.

Prior to his role as CEO Huawei Marine Networks, Mike, as Corporate Development Director, was responsible for the strategic development of the Global Marine Group, including HMN and SBSS.

Previously Mike worked for Pacnet (Global) Ltd in Singapore , Global Crossing in New York and Alcatel Submarine Networks.

Mike earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and his MBA at Henley Management College, United Kingdom.

Martyn previously headed up the Project Engineering function at Global Marine Group at a time when the business went through significant expansion, and it was his team that was responsible for many of the vessel conversions and new builds that the company took on at that time.

After leaving Global Marine Group, Martyn stayed very close to the sector and up until recently spent a number of years working at Reef Subsea and Houlder Limited. On re-joining Global Marine Group in 2015, Martyn brought a wealth of knowledge and experience which has been invaluable to the business, and he now heads our dedicated engineering division as Director of Engineering.

Gail began working with Global Marine Group as part of the marketing team from 1996 to 2001. Following several years working in a cross section of companies across a number of industry sectors including large corporations to small start-ups, in both marketing agencies and client-side, she returned to Global Marine Group in 2014 and now sits as Director of Corporate Communications.

Gail completed a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree, subsequently completing her postgraduate diploma in Marketing, and is currently a Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
