As of October 2017, Global Marine Group has announced the acquisition of Fugro’s trenching and cable laying business, which is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2017.

The acquisition further positions the Group for significant offshore power and oil & gas market opportunities with vessel and trenching assets to join our cable installation and maintenance fleet as well as an extremely capable team that are able to successfully deliver complex subsea projects.

Joining the Group fleet are the Symphony, a multi-purpose vessel built in 2011 with an extensive 1,400m² deck space as well as two high performance Q1400 jet trenchers designed for precise installation of pipelines, cables and umbilicals in challenging seabed environments.

Before becoming CEO in 2011, Ian worked extensively in Asia where he led the diversification and growth of our JV,SBSS and was the founding CEO of Huawei Marine Networks.

He is a Chartered Engineer having graduated in Mechanical Engineering and holds an MBA from Henley. He is one of only a handful of business people to receive The Friendship Award – the highest honour awarded by the Chinese Government for contributions to China.

(NYSE: “CKH”) with world-wide operations focused on energy & marine services industries.

Lee joined CWind in November 2014 as Operations Director after 25 years with Siemens, and moved into the position of Managing Director in June 2016.

Lee has more than 10 years of experience in offshore wind following his transfer within Siemens in 2010 to work in their then new offshore wind segment. Subsequently he used his vast engineering knowledge to support the construction of the offshore wind farms under planning and construction for subsea works as well as WTG installation, working across the UK, Denmark and Germany.

Ian is a Chartered Engineer and qualified as a Chief Engineer in the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service. He was educated at Royal Naval Colleges of Manadon and Greenwich, and at Warwick Business School.

Ian joined Global Marine Group this summer from Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) where he was responsible for the delivery of their global after-market engineering services for all business streams. Immediately prior to SMD, Ian spent 6 years as a senior manager with The Crown Estate having responsibility for the development of EON’s Rampion windfarm. He has held senior roles in the delivery of major capital projects, within the manufacturing and services sector businesses.

Martyn previously headed up the Project Engineering function at Global Marine Group at a time when the business went through significant expansion, and it was his team that was responsible for many of the vessel conversions and new builds that the company took on at that time.

After leaving Global Marine Group, Martyn stayed very close to the sector and up until recently spent a number of years working at Reef Subsea and Houlder Limited. On re-joining Global Marine Group in 2015, Martyn brought a wealth of knowledge and experience which has been invaluable to the business, and he now heads our dedicated engineering division as Director of Engineering.

Gail completed a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree, subsequently completing her postgraduate diploma in Marketing, and is currently a Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

    To provide all the necessary parts, for the timely completion of all production and sales orders to our customer, and maintain a clean and 5S compatible work area. The role will be responsible for completing all activities / functions within the workshop and other projects, as directed by your line manager.

    Key Deliverables

    • Perform all workshop duties as required to achieve on time delivery of all production and sales orders.
    • To process all parts that require protective wrapping and packing in accordance with company procedures, include part marking relevant parts as dictated by the drawing requirements.
    • Ultrasonically clean any parts that need cleaning prior to packing
    • To assemble and scan in all kits using the issued Bill of Materials for sales orders in accordance company procedures.
    • To accept all planned deliveries, these will need to be signed for and paperwork for delivery stamped as unchecked.

    To ensure all statutory and company tax filings for the group are made within deadlines, to ensure monthly management accounts are completed accurately and on a timely basis, to support the completion of the annual budget process (including cash-flow and balance sheets), to manage the financial accounting transactional team, and to act as a sounding board to the Group on financial, accounting and legal matters.


    Financial Reporting

    • To ensure the group’s statutory and legal obligations are met.
    • To liaise with the auditors, manage the year-end audit process and prepare the annual accounts for all group companies.
    • To ensure all company tax returns, including VAT and Intrastat, are submitted on a timely and accurate basis.
    • Provide timely information to support completion of consolidated group US tax returns.
    • To ensure suitable and adequate year-end information is received from all non-UK based subsidiaries, Joint Ventures and Associate companies.
    • To ensure the Group Accounting Policies and Accounting Disclosures are in accordance with the appropriate Accounting Standards.
    • To ensure all pension scheme annual accounts are prepared and are consistent with Group accounting records; and co-ordinate FRS 17 disclosures with actuaries.

    Management Reporting

    • To support the preparation of the annual budget for the Group, including the cash-flow and balance sheet budgets.
    • To ensure the monthly consolidated group management accounts and accompanying disclosures are completed accurately in accordance with US GAAP and submitted to NYSE listed parent company in within agreed published deadlines.
    • To maintain a financial model (profits, cash-flow, and balance sheets) to facilitate forecasting and monitoring of the Group results, including liaison with the Finance Manager for cash-flow forecasts.
    • To co-ordinate the information received from Joint Venture and Associate companies, post to IFS, monitor and manage reporting of results.

    Financial Processing

    • To manage and co-ordinate the services between GMSL and GMSG Limited.
    • To monitor the value and volume of entries in the GRNI account.
    • To review bad debt provisions and any adjustments from FRS 17 pension shortfalls
    • To monitor and understand the effects of foreign exchange adjustments within the financial statements of the group.

    Staff Management

    • Management of the Financial Reporting and Processing team, including recruitment, training guidance and technical advice where necessary. The assessment of the team performance should be in accordance with the established Global Marine performance review process, providing objectives, monitoring performance, completing reviews and gradings.
    • Ensuring the teams are adequately resourced to meet deadlines.


    • Working with the Finance Director, IFS Systems Accountant & Financial Transactions Manager to maintain and develop the financial systems and procedures of the Group.
    • Ensure all processes comply with SOX guidelines.
    • Support interim and annual SOX audits.

    • Develop a sales and marketing plan which ensures both new and existing customer relationships are in place to ensure Cwind Power is the provider of choice in its chosen power markets. Ensure account management plans are in place for all key accounts and provide timely sales input in to the annual marketing plan and events
    • Ensure comprehensive completion of and adherence to the sales qualification and prioritisation process which ensures only those opportunities that present the best chance of conversion to contract, and support the successful delivery of Cwind Power financial and strategic plan, are aligned with the Bids and Proposals team
    • Working alongside the Head of Bids and Proposals, ensure all relevant technical and commercial aspects of the bid are clearly understood by the Sales lead, as well as the Bids and Proposal Engineers and when necessary the contract negotiation team. Ensure that Sales and Proposals are closely aligned during the opportunity lifecycle through to contract award or loss
    • Ensure the Sales lead responsible works closely with the proposals lead to produce a comprehensive proposal document, approves same before issue to client and follows up on all bid submissions within 10 working days of the submission date, providing feedback to the Proposals team re same
    • In conjunction with the Sales Director / Head of Bids and proposals, agree margins to be applied to proposals to reflect market pricing intelligence, inherent risk levels, CWind’s USP’s as well as the business plan targets for each market sector
    • Ensure sales team proactively provides input into Vessel Resource Meeting, clearly understands utilisation levels, alongside any gaps and is focussed to secure work to address same
    • Provide the Managing Director / sales Director with regular reports related to all relevant sales, market and competitor activity including an accurate Sales Pipeline, Forecast and Key Account Plan data set

    • Minimum of 5 years Senior Sales or Business Development experience in a similar role, within the Offshore Renewable sector or Oil & Gas industry
    • Experience in managing a remote and culturally diverse team
    • A good understanding of contractual terms and conditions, risk management and RQHSE practices
    • Extensive experience in sales, negotiating and closing major contracts
    • Educated to Degree level, preferably in an engineering discipline or with an MBA

    Due to expansion the Company is looking to recruit a for highly qualified (Siemens level 7) offshore wind technicians to join our teams. This role will Working as part of a small team that undertake construction work, operate and maintain the Wind Farms, undertake balance of plan, carry out scheduled, unscheduled and proactive maintenance including fault finding, repairs and troubleshooting.

    You will be working offshore in all weathers and at heights of up to 100m, using heavy, complex electrical equipment, so you will demonstrate a high level commitment to Health and Safety in all aspects of your work.

    Key Responsibilities:


    • Plant control, operation and monitoring of Wind assets
    • Analyse weather data and coordinate commercial dispatch
    • Management of CMMS and associated works control
    • Marine manifesto management
    • Recording and monitoring access of staff and contractors at wind farm sites
    • Electro/Mechanical problem solving of wind turbines and associated plant, with user manuals and or electronic devices to trace, repair, record issues
    • Making cost/benefit decision making of changing a component before failure or allowing it to continue until complete failure
    • Work at height, using heavy equipment and electricity, therefore, experienced in understanding all Health, Safety and Environmental considerations
    • The technicians will be working offshore and are required to plan in advance what tools, spares, manpower, safety and personal planning is required for each task
    • Fault finding and diagnostics of the wind turbine to determining if site repair is possible or whether unit requires exchange
    • Inspection of blades and performing minor repairs as applicable then writing condition reports
    • Heavy lift planning where component failure has failed catastrophically and cannot be removed using the normal method
    • Support as required Project and Commercial Project managers, the MC, CTV skippers and Wind farm operators.


    • During major component exchange, may be responsible for leading groups of technicians working at height

    Skills and Experience

    • Currently qualified to at least level 7 (with full GWO)
    • An experienced Mechanical \ Electrical Craftsperson \ Technician \ Operator \ Engineer.
    • Excellent knowledge of wind turbine OEM and WTG blade composites, inspections and repairs.
    • Knowledge of the wind industry would be an advantage but not necessary as training will be provided
    • Capable of working in isolation and solving problems with an analytical approach, you will be confident at planning your own workload and capable of working well with all types of people, including industry specialists
    • Naturally flexible as we operate the wind farm 24 hours a day seven days a week
    • Knowledge and experience of safety rules systems both WTSR and HV
    • Knowledge and experience of electronic maintenance management systems
    • Full EU passport (not less than one year until expiry)
