Ian Douglas
Chief Executive Officer

Before becoming CEO in 2011, Ian worked extensively in Asia where he led the diversification and growth of our JV,SBSS and was the founding CEO of Huawei Marine Networks.

He is a Chartered Engineer having graduated in Mechanical Engineering and holds an MBA from Henley. He is one of only a handful of business people to receive The Friendship Award – the highest honour awarded by the Chinese Government for contributions to China.

John Taylor

John Taylor joined the Global Marine Group in 2019.

John has over 35 years’ experience in corporate finance across multiple sectors in both B2B and B2C organisations. He brings a wealth of knowledge in leading transformation, M&A and integration as well as restructuring and re-organisations.

Most recently he held the post of CFO at the UK Met Office, prior to this he was EMEA CFO/COO for M&W Group an engineering consultancy offering EPC services.

A law graduate, subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst with Deloitte in 1986.

Bruce Neilson-Watts
Managing Director, Global Marine

Bruce began his career with Global Marine Group at sea in 1989 becoming a Master Mariner and the youngest ever Captain in the fleet, before coming ashore in 2005. He has recently returned from China after six years working in both HMN as VP Service Delivery and SBSS as Managing Director.

Nathanael Allison
Managing Director, CWind

Nathanael joined the business in August 2019 and brings extensive commercial, operational and customer relations experience to CWind. Formerly working within the sector at Prysmian and at Industrial Marine Hydraulics, Nathanael has built a reputable track record working globally and has a passion for bringing new disruptive technologies to market.

He was educated at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London graduating in Physics, going on to obtain a Masters in Mechanical Engineering.

Mike Daniel
Managing Director, Global Offshore

Mike has been in the business for many years with over 35 years’ experience in the oil & gas and renewables sectors. Having previously worked at UDI, Rockwater, Stolt Offshore and Subocean Group, Mike joined Fugro’s Subsea construction and Installation team as a Project Manager in 2012, before becoming Business Line Manager in 2013.

During his time at Fugro Mike has lead the team in successful completing many projects including most recently the Rampion Offshore windfarm array cable installation, Hywind export cable trenching, Maria pipeline trenching, Shell Gannet pipeline trenching, Humber Gateway cable installation and trenching of 77 array cables, Talisman Arkwright umbilical trenching, BP ETAP project 32km umbilical replacement, Engie Cygnus 74km umbilical trenching and Shell Corrib project.

On joining the Global Marine Group, Mike assumes the role of Managing Director bringing his great experience and capabilities to head the team.

Gail began working with Global Marine Group as part of the marketing team from 1996 to 2001. Following several years working in other sectors including professional services, retail and manufacturing in both large corporations as well as small start-ups, she returned to Global Marine Group in 2014 heading up marketing activities across the Group.

With the formation of the fourth business unit, OceanIQ, Gail has assumed the role of Managing Director, taking to market the company’s rich wealth of subsea data and route engineering consultancy services. She also is currently sitting on RenewableUK’s Shadow Board bringing a passion for collaborative working and contributing to the net zero conversation.

Gail completed a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree, subsequently completing a postgraduate diploma in Marketing.

Simon Hibberd
MD SBSS

Simon Hibberd began his role of SBSS’s MD in May 2018, and brings vast industry experience having worked for Global Marine Group since 1988.  Captain Hibberd initially worked on board Global Marine’s cable ships, rising to the rank of Commander where he completed the installation of landmark fibre optic and power cable projects, including: Brazilian Festoon,PC1, TAT14, EAC and Estlink.  In 2007, he moved ashore and has subsequently held a number of senior posts at the Company’s UK head office including Director Fleet & Operational Support then Director, Global Technical Sales, and most recently focusing on business development opportunities in Asia.

Simon’s operational knowledge, combined with managerial and business development experience gained through his career within the Global Marine Group, makes him a great fit for SBSS’s MD.

Paul joined Global Marine Group in 2012 originally looking after HR for the Fleet. He assumed responsibility for both shore and fleet personnel in 2015. Previously Paul has worked in a range of senior HR roles in the defence, telecoms, manufacturing and financial sectors.

Steve Pearce
Director of FP&A and Corporate Development

Steve joined Global Marine Group in 2019 as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis moving to Director of FP&A and Corporate Development in Feb 2020. He has worked in a range of finance-based roles across a variety of industries, particularly telecommunications, manufacturing and FMCG.  From these Steve brings considerable experience in financial analysis, reporting and performance management, strategy development and business process change. Most recently he was Finance Director and then Supply Chain & Integration Director for a food manufacturing group.

Steve holds a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Financial Management and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG.

Andrew Seaden

Andrew joined Global Marine Group last year having worked in various IT roles for over 30 years. He has experience in a variety of industries, including financial services and construction, amongst others.

Supporting all the business units across the Group, his focus is on technological business transformation. This includes reviewing and making improvements to internal processes, major system changes and transformation of the business environment.

Martyn previously headed up the Project Engineering function at Global Marine Group at a time when the business went through significant expansion, and it was his team that was responsible for many of the vessel conversions and new builds that the company took on at that time.

After leaving Global Marine Group, Martyn stayed very close to the sector and up until recently spent a number of years working at Reef Subsea and Houlder Limited. On re-joining Global Marine Group in 2015, Martyn brought a wealth of knowledge and experience which has been invaluable to the business, and he now heads our dedicated engineering division as Director of Engineering.

Graham Boyle
Director of RQHSE

Graham has 20 years’ RQHSE experience in the construction, oil & gas, renewables & manufacturing sectors. On joining the Global Marine Group, Graham brings his great experience and capabilities to head the team.

Graham has successfully implemented and managed RQHSE systems globally through influencing and engagement at all levels achieving 78% reduction in LTI rates and 45% reduction in waste generation as well as developing safety culture & maturity in a number of organisations.

Rob Twell
Head of Fleet

Rob Twell, Head of Fleet of Global Marine, leads the Fleet Management Team which is responsible for the fleet of vessels within Global Marine as well as managing Fleet Technical, Marine, Fleet Resourcing, Cadet Training, Marine Training and Fleet Electrical engineering. He is also the Designated Person Ashore, keeping the leadership team and CEO appraised of any significant issues relating to safety and compliance with maritime legislation.

Rob ensures that Global Marine’s vessels operate to the highest standards in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and that all activities are conducted in line with all ISO standards in accordance with the Global Marine standards and policies.  He also ensures that the entire fleet is maintained in accordance with IMO Requirements, Flag State and Classification Rules, together with Company policies and procedures. He is also an active member of the UK Chamber of Shipping and Chairs the Warlike Operations Area Committee, which is a crucial committee that considers areas of the world where special hazards to seafarers may arise as a result of warlike activity or piracy and makes proposals for appropriate actions.

Paul has been with Global Marine since 2009 and has over 20 years’ Procurement experience within both manufacturing and service sectors.  Having responsibility for the Group’s global supply chain, he has a primary role is to execute the Procurement strategy and to ensure the Procurement team effectively manage supply risk, minimise spend and maximise value through closer supplier management and collaboration, as well as improving process efficiencies.

Julie Keech
Group Head of Commercial Finance

Julie, who joined Global Marine Group in 2015, is Head of Commercial Finance, working closely with the three business unit Managing Directors. She is a highly qualified finance professional with an extensive range of experience in financial accounting, project accounting and business partnering.

Julie has 20 years’ experience, with a proven history of producing positive results in a fast-paced environment. Julie is a FCCA qualified accountant, owing to continuous membership and compliance with CPD policy, demonstrating a long-term commitment to professionalism and ethics.
