CWind is part of the Global Marine Group delivering the company’s topside, splash zone and subsea engineering services to the offshore renewables and utilities market.

With experience at 50 UK & European offshore wind farms, CWind consistently demonstrates a commitment to innovation with a can-do attitude.

CWind holds a unique market position with a dedicated team of trained technicians combined with a fuel-efficient fleet of crew transfer vessels. The company also has its own training facility, CWind Training.

Global Marine is part of the Global Marine Group, and is a market leader in subsea fibre optic cable installation and maintenance solutions to the telecoms and oil & gas sectors.

Global Marine has developed a core base of knowledge, skills, technology, equipment and assets which provide the capabilities to plan, install, bury, store, test, find, recover and maintain subsea fibre optic cables. With highly experienced, respected project engineering and project management teams, Global Offshore ensure that even whilst working in the harshest of seas and most challenging of seabed condition, projects are delivered successfully.

From a strategically located base in Aberdeen, Global Offshore has developed a reputation as a trusted partner with many clients returning following successfully executed projects. These long-standing relationships have been forged through our flexibility and understanding of the client’s needs.

Joining the Group fleet are the Global Symphony, a multi-purpose vessel built in 2011 with an extensive 1,400m² deck space as well as two high performance Q1400 jet trenchers designed for precise installation of pipelines, cables and umbilicals in challenging seabed environments.

Ian Douglas
Chief Executive Officer

Before becoming CEO in 2011, Ian worked extensively in Asia where he led the diversification and growth of our JV,SBSS and was the founding CEO of Huawei Marine Networks.

He is a Chartered Engineer having graduated in Mechanical Engineering and holds an MBA from Henley. He is one of only a handful of business people to receive The Friendship Award – the highest honour awarded by the Chinese Government for contributions to China.

Dick joined Global Marine Group in September 2014 after he led the acquisition from its prior owners. Dick brings a variety of experiences to Global Marine Group; he spent 12 years as a banker with DNB New York serving the telecom, energy & marine industries, and 17 years as a senior executive officer at Seacor Holdings Inc. (NYSE: “CKH”) with world-wide operations focused on energy & marine services industries.

Bruce began his career with Global Marine Group at sea in 1989 becoming a Master Mariner and the youngest ever Captain in the fleet, before coming ashore in 2005. He has recently returned from China after six years working in both HMN as VP Service Delivery and SBSS as Managing Director.

Mike Daniel

Mike has been in the business for many years with over 35 years’ experience in the oil & gas and renewables sectors. Having previously worked at UDI, Rockwater, Stolt Offshore and Subocean Group, Mike joined Fugro’s Subsea construction and Installation team as a Project Manager in 2012, before becoming Business Line Manager in 2013.

During his time at Fugro Mike has lead the team in successful completing many projects including most recently the Rampion Offshore windfarm array cable installation, Hywind export cable trenching, Maria pipeline trenching, Shell Gannet pipeline trenching, Humber Gateway cable installation and trenching of 77 array cables, Talisman Arkwright umbilical trenching, BP ETAP project 32km umbilical replacement, Engie Cygnus 74km umbilical trenching and Shell Corrib project.

On joining the Global Marine Group, Mike assumes the role of Managing Director bringing his great experience and capabilities to head the team.

Ian has 35 years’ experience as a Chartered Engineer having qualified as a Chief [Weapons] Engineer in the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service. He was educated at Royal Naval Colleges Manadon and Greenwich, and at Warwick Business School.

Ian joined Global Marine Group in 2016 from Soil Machine Dynamics where he was responsible for delivery of after-market engineering services to clients across the globe. Ian has held senior roles in the delivery of major capital projects, services and manufacturing businesses.  Ian sits on two boards for the company the Group GMSL board, as well as the recently formed joint venture CWind Taiwan.

Paul joined Global Marine Group in 2012 originally looking after HR for the Fleet. He assumed responsibility for both shore and fleet personnel in 2015. Previously Paul has worked in a range of senior HR roles in the defence, telecoms, manufacturing and financial sectors.

Prior to his role as CEO Huawei Marine Networks, Mike, as Corporate Development Director, was responsible for the strategic development of the Global Marine Group, including HMN and SBSS.

Previously Mike worked for Pacnet (Global) Ltd in Singapore , Global Crossing in New York and Alcatel Submarine Networks.

Mike earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and his MBA at Henley Management College, United Kingdom.

Andrew Seaden
Director of Systems, Processes & Transformation

Andrew joined Global Marine Group earlier this year having worked in various IT roles for over 30 years. He has experience in a variety of industries, including financial services and construction, amongst others.

Supporting all the business units across the Group, his focus is on technological business transformation. This includes reviewing and making improvements to internal processes, major system changes and transformation of the business environment.

Martyn previously headed up the Project Engineering function at Global Marine Group at a time when the business went through significant expansion, and it was his team that was responsible for many of the vessel conversions and new builds that the company took on at that time.

After leaving Global Marine Group, Martyn stayed very close to the sector and up until recently spent a number of years working at Reef Subsea and Houlder Limited. On re-joining Global Marine Group in 2015, Martyn brought a wealth of knowledge and experience which has been invaluable to the business, and he now heads our dedicated engineering division as Director of Engineering.

Gail began working with Global Marine Group as part of the marketing team from 1996 to 2001. Following several years working in a cross section of companies across a number of industry sectors including large corporations to small start-ups, in both marketing agencies and client-side, she returned to Global Marine Group in 2014 and now sits as Director of Marketing.

Gail completed a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree, subsequently completing her postgraduate diploma in Marketing, and is currently a Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Graham Boyle

Graham has 20 years’ RQHSE experience in the construction, oil & gas, renewables & manufacturing sectors. On joining the Global Marine Group, Graham brings his great experience and capabilities to head the team.

Graham has successfully implemented and managed RQHSE systems globally through influencing and engagement at all levels achieving 78% reduction in LTI rates and 45% reduction in waste generation as well as developing safety culture & maturity in a number of organisations.

Hamish Yates
Director of Corporate Development

Hamish is Director of Corporate Development for the Global Marine Group, responsible for identifying, developing and implementing new business opportunities, mergers & acquisitions, Joint Ventures, partnerships and global strategy.

In 2018, Hamish played a fundamental part in the establishment of CWind Taiwan, a Joint Venture focused on delivering Construction & O&M services to the Taiwanese Offshore Wind market.

Hamish comes from a Civil Engineering & Project Management background and has a broad range of experience in Offshore Renewables, Telecommunications and O&G markets.
