Founded in 1850, Global Marine Group and its predecessors have a long history in the telecommunications industry, starting with its pioneering work in the telegraph sector.

2025

Business acquisition – positioned for growth

Keppel Infrastructure Fund (KIF) completes 100% acquisition of GMG. KIF has a strong depth of understanding in infrastructure and connectivity, with a portfolio extending into the maritime sector and telecoms industry.

SubConnect business unit formed

Global Marine Group create new business unit, SubConnect, highlighting unparalleled expertise in subsea cable, testing, UJ, UQJ, training and qualification.

Cable Fault Rate Heatmaps launched

Understanding the submarine cable landscape has never been as important. OceanIQ can now provide detailed fault rate heat maps, additional subsea cable data and visuals that outline the number of faults that can be expected on each kilometre of a cable, within a specific area, per year and aid in better cable route planning, longevity and profitability.

Installed the world’s first transatlantic cable

Global Marine, under the Great Eastern banner, installs the worlds first transatlantic undersea telegraph cable. The installation took several years to complete.
